NEW | UK Labels Palestine Action Activists as “Terrorists” - MEE

A British court sentenced four Palestine Action activists to prison terms ranging from nearly six to almost nine years after attaching a “terrorism connection” to their convictions over direct action targeting a facility owned by Israeli arms manufacturer Elbit Systems.

The activists were convicted over a 2024 operation aimed at disrupting the company’s activities, which are linked to Israel’s genocide.

While none of the defendants were convicted of terrorism offenses, the judge ruled that their actions were politically motivated and intended to influence government policy.

The ruling is believed to be the first of its kind in British legal history, applying a terrorism-related designation to direct-action protesters convicted of criminal damage rather than terrorism crimes.

Defense lawyers condemned the decision, arguing that key evidence was introduced at the last minute and that the defendants were denied the opportunity to fully present the political motivations behind their actions.

#Germany 's federal intelligence agency classified the international Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (#BDS) movement as a suspected extremist organization this week.

This new designation will allow German authorities to monitor BDS activists and recruit informants within the organization.

#Israel has also poured tens of millions of shekels into combating BDS. Germany has now become the latest country to join what is commonly known as "the anti-BDS movement."

The whole meeting had to proceed under the eyes of the police observing who was present and listening whether specific expressions could be used to criminalize the Palestinian #solidarity movement once more.

Living in a police state seems to be the fitting term for a situation in which the armed police of the state executive intimidates not only the audience but the international visitor who represents the United Nations that were founded after WW2 to make it impossible that such kinds of authoritarian repression like in Nazi #Germany would ever happen again.
