Watch | Jeremy Scahill: Israel holds thousands of Palestinian bodies since 1967
In a interview, journalist Jeremy Scahill says the Israeli policy of withholding Palestinian bodies exposes a “deep hypocrisy” in its treatment of the dead.
Scahill said Israel has kept over 2,000 Palestinian bodies in numbered graves or storage since 1967, some for more than 40 years, even as it demands the return of Israeli captives’ remains from Gaza.
The Israeli army on Monday demolished five Palestinian homes and an agricultural shed across the occupied West Bank on claims of lacking building permits, witnesses said.
Israeli forces raided the town of al-Funduq, east of Qalqilya, and demolished two two-story houses, citing that they were built without permits in areas classified as “C” under the Oslo Accords signed between Israel and the PLO, witnesses told Anadolu.

NEW | Over 300 Writers and Public Figures Boycott New York Times Opinion Section
More than 300 writers, scholars, and public figures, including nearly 150 past New York Times contributors, have pledged to boycott the newspaper’s Opinion section until three key demands are met.
The group says the Times is using “guest essayists” to repair its damaged credibility and to tokenize diverse voices while maintaining a conservative editorial stance. They argue that without freelance contributors and subject-matter experts, the paper’s opinion pages “would be utterly worthless.”
Among the signatories are Rima Hassan, Chelsea Manning, Rashida Tlaib, Gabor Maté, Sally Rooney, Rupi Kaur, Elia Suleiman, Mariam Barghouti, Greta Thunberg, Mohammed El-Kurd, Susan Abulhawa, Noura Erakat, and Omar El Akkad.
Organizers describe the initiative as an act of solidarity and conscience, urging other writers who have contributed to, been invited by, or covered in the New York Times to join the boycott.
