The UN warned of a widespread chickenpox outbreak among displaced Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, with around 9,300 cases reported in two weeks, more than half in Khan Younis.

The outbreak is being driven by overcrowded shelters, the collapse of water and sanitation services, extreme heat, and poor living conditions. The UN also reported rats and parasites in 83% of displacement sites, raising fears of a broader public health crisis.

The organization urged urgent action to improve sanitation and healthcare services to contain the spread of infectious diseases.

The Israeli regime gives the Al-Rifa'iya School in Hebron just 14 days before carrying out a demolition order, threatening to deprive 150 students of their classrooms.

Ten other schools in the area, serving nearly 1,000 students, face the same risk. Despite the escalating threat, the local Directorate of Education vowed to continue teaching under all circumstances, even if classes must be held atop the rubble, in tents, caves, or open spaces, affirming that children’s right to education will not be abandoned.

NEW | “A License to Kill”: The Guardian Exposes Israel’s Systematic Killing of Palestinian Children in the Occupied West Bank

A new investigation by The Guardian, citing findings from the Israeli human rights group B’Tselem, reveals that Israeli occupation forces have killed 235 Palestinian children in the occupied West Bank since 7 October 2023, while not a single Israeli has been indicted for killing a Palestinian during that period, according to Yesh Din.

The report documents how children, including 9-year-old Mohammad al-Halaq, 13-year-old Rimas Amuri, and 2-year-old Layla al-Khatib, were shot and killed despite posing no threat. Many were playing outside, while Layla was fatally shot inside her family’s home as she sat on her mother’s lap.

B’Tselem said Israel is implementing a policy that effectively gives soldiers “a license to kill”, rejecting military claims that the children were involved in militant activity.

The report also highlights statements by Israeli military commander Maj. Gen. Avi Bluth, who declared that Israeli forces are “killing like we haven’t killed since 1967”
