Breaking | Israel Allows Abu Shabab Militia to Operate at Rafah Crossing Under Its Supervision

Israel is reportedly allowing members of the Abu Shabab militia to monitor movement on the Gaza side of the Rafah Crossing, in an arrangement that may become permanent, according to a Wednesday evening report by Kan News.

A photo captured earlier this week from the Gaza side of the crossing shows Ghassan Dhaini, head of the militia, standing alongside armed militia members. The image documents their presence inside an area that remains occupied by Israel.

According to the report, militia members are operating in close proximity to Israeli occupation soldiers and with explicit Israeli authorization. Israel even permit these militia members to conduct physical searches of Palestinians entering the Gaza Strip through the crossing.

New measures approved by the Israeli “security cabinet” extend legal and administrative control over the liberated areas in occupied West Bank (home to over 50% of Palestinians in the West Bank). The measures override signed accords and Palestinian sovereignty in order to camouflage land theft by Jewish settlers as legal purchases.

Building licenses in the Palestinian city of Hebron and some parts near Bethlehem will be authorized through Israeli settler authorities rather than the Palestinian municipality.

The annexation affects religiously sensitive holy sites, including Hebron’s Ibrahimi Mosque, and legalizes Jewish settlement near Rachel’s Tomb in Bethlehem.

Venezuela sent its first crude oil shipment to Israel in years, following the reopening of its oil exports after US forces captured President Nicolás Maduro in January. The cargo is headed to Haifa’s Bazan Group, Israel’s largest refinery, Bloomberg reports.

Kpler data shows this would be the first Venezuelan oil delivery to Israel since mid‑2020, when it imported about 470,000 barrels. Venezuela recently expanded its customer base beyond China, with new shipments going to India, Spain, and the United States.
