A leaked Emirati government document, dated October 2023 and authored by Hamdan bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, proposes using UAE bases in the Red Sea to provide military, intelligence, and logistical support to Israel during its genocide on Gaza.

Addressed to the Joint Operations Command of the UAE Armed Forces, the paper explicitly urges the UAE to “strengthen Israel in its war on Palestine” and calls for continued backing, including “community initiatives” to promote “social cohesion” between the two states.

The International Committee of the Red Cross confirmed that Israeli occupation authorities had prevented it since October 2023 from visiting Palestinian detainees held in prisons and detention facilities inside Israel, depriving thousands of families of any information about the fate of their relatives or reassurance about their health and humanitarian conditions.

Amani Al Naouq, spokesperson for the committee in Gaza, said that the Red Cross had so far been unable to access any Palestinian detainees or obtain official information regarding their places of detention or the conditions under which they were held.

Al Naouq said the committee continued its dialogue with the Israeli occupation authorities and considered the detainees file a top priority, urging immediate access to detainees and the provision of information to their families.
