The UN Security Council passed a resolution calling for Iran to stop attacks on Gulf countries and threats to navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.

The resolution, sponsored by Bahrain and backed by 135 countries, did not mention US or Israeli strikes on Iran. It passed with 13 votes in favour, while Russia and China abstained.

Iran condemned the move as a “blatant misuse” of the Security Council and an injustice against the main victim of aggression. Russia and China also criticized the resolution as biased, while a Russian draft calling on all sides to de-escalate was rejected.
