NEW | Israeli attacks systematically target medical sector in south Lebanon
Health workers and officials in south Lebanon report a deliberate Israeli campaign targeting medical facilities, ambulances, and first responders, aimed at making the region uninhabitable and forcing civilians from their land.
Since the start of the war, at least 128 medical centers and ambulances have been struck, killing 40 healthcare workers and injuring more than 100, according to Lebanon’s Health Ministry.
Medics describe repeated “double-tap” strikes, where an initial bombardment is followed by a second attack after rescue teams arrive, causing additional casualties among paramedics and civilians.
Investigations found no evidence that the targeted medical sites were used for military purposes, while rights groups stress that medical personnel are protected under international law and targeting them may constitute war crimes.
